Farmer Background:  David and Naede Avila have been in the farming business since their childhood.  David’s family has farmed in the San Joaquin Valley for the past four generations, growing everything from cotton to fruits and even popcorn on the cob!

Naede grew up farming with her family in the Azores, Portugal.  Her father raised cattle and grew fruits and vegetables necessary for their own food.

In 1969, David began his own independent farm, growing a variety of fruits and nuts, primarily pistachios and apricots.  He began drying a variety of fruits and sold them to independent companies.  When David and Naede married in 1974, they combined each of their own family’s farming techniques and created what is now Avila and Sons Farms, raising their four sons as well.

In 1983, the Avila family took a new turn in farming; they began to sell their products to the public at Farmers’ Markets.  They started in San Luis Obispo and expanded throughout various parts of Southern California.

Today, David and Naede, along with their sons, meet their customers weekly and personally sell them a variety of delicious specialty dried fruits and nuts.  The Avila sons are proud to continue another generation of farming.

What he stresses in his presentations:  Where the food comes from, the taste, the flavor, and the freshness of our products.  And the overall satisfaction of a customer!
